The semester is now over. This past semester I feel I have become a better all around writer. I have found out the importance of writing with meaning and something you care about. For example, the RAIDS questions did a lot for me and learning to read critically. This helped me to become a better writer. I also know now that it is important to have a specific audience when writing.

Blogging is a creative and fun way to write about things. I feel like it is a good way to write about what you feel and to write whatever you want. It is also a good way to share your writing with others. This way it is on the internet and everyone has access to it.

This semester was pretty good for me. It was my first semester in college and it was hard getting adjusted to it at first but I got used to it after a while. This class helped me a lot too. I thought it was challenging but it wasn't overwhelming. It was a good pace and there weren't a bunch of papers that we had to write which I liked. I thought our class was fun too. The class was never boring. This was a fun class and I'm glad I took it.

Research paper reflection

After doing this research paper, I learned many things about myself. I learned that I can ask a research question and go find out information and find out how I feel about something. I also found out how I feel about life prolonging technology. Another thing I learned was how to find books in the library and how to use the internet to find books and other references for my paper. I also learned a different way to type papers. I tried to write my paper using the delayed thesis structure. I thought I was mostly successful in doing this.

My favorite part of this project was finding out what other people felt about this topic. I found many different viewpoints and opinions. I think this is why it was my favorite part. My topic was very controversial. Another part I enjoyed was trying a different way of typing the paper. I thought the delayed thesis structure was a new challenge for me and I usually just type papers the old traditional way so I wanted to try something different.

My least favorite part was going to the library and finding the books and references. This wasn't too bad but it was kinda hard because it was so big and I have never been there. The librarian was very helpful though and she showed me where to get it. Another thing I didn't like was citing my references and typing the reference list. This is where I struggled I think. I did my best to find the best sources and putting them into my paper the right way.

Overall I thought my paper was successful. I asked a question that I didn't know the answer to and I found out how I felt about it. My question did not have a definite answer either. There were many different opinions. I tried to engage the reader and I don't think my paper was too boring.

to prolong life or not to prolong life.. that is the question

When I first began this project it was really hard for me to decide on a topic. Then I thought writing about medical technology would be an interesting topic but I was told that it would be too broad of a topic. So I still stuck with medical technology but also added prolonging life. My subject now is prolonging life with medical technology. At first I did not know much about this topic other than it was a controversial topic that many people have different opinions on. I went on the internet and typed in my topic into the google search and some interesting things came up. I also found a book that looked like it would be helpful so I went to the library and checked it out. At first I wasn't really sure how I felt about prolonging life with medical technology. Now after research, I am still somewhat uncertain and feel that it is mostly up to the patient and his/her family, but I feel that prolonging life is a good thing as long as the patient will have an enjoyable life.

From internet research and from the book I checked out I have learned new things. Some of the things I learned was the different ways in which medical technology can prolong a person's life. I have also learned that there are also many negative aspects of prolonging life with technology.

Right now, I am not even close to have done enough research on my topic. At the beginning of this project I felt that this would be a fun and interesting topic. I still feel this way after research. This topic is not only interesting but also serious.

I think Magic Johnson's life has been prolonged by medical technology. He was diagnosed with HIV positive and his life has been prolonged longer than most HIV/AIDS patients because of the costly medical technology that he can afford. My little cousin was born very premature. About 3 months premature. He was so little it was amazing. They weren't sure if he was going to make it. However, he made it. I feel that medical technology was able to help him live. Without the medical technology it would have been a lot tougher for him to survive. There are many cases which prolonging a person's life are not in the person's best interest.

person2: I don't think that it is right. I think that medical technology should not manipulate human life and death.
person1: Yes but what if someone you knew lost some of their normal bodily functions. Medical technology could help them and prolong their life so it would be a more enjoyable life for them.
person2: Yea I never really thought of that, but the thought of medical technology manipulating life and death disturbs me. Also, if a person is brain dead or in a vegetative state, prolonging their life with medical technology would not only have no affect on them, but it can also prolong the mental and physical pain of those involved.
person1: Yea but that is when the patient and the patient's family should be able to decide weather to prolong life or not.

The most important thing I think people should understand about prolonging life with medical technology is that there are both positives and negatives. There is a lot of good that can come out of prolonging a life with medical technology. It can help a person have a more enjoyable life than they would normally without the medical technology. However, it can also just prolong the mental and physical pain of a person who is treated with medical technology. The technology can sometimes be meaningless if the patient is in a severe enough state. The reason why this is such a controversial topic is because there are a good amount of both positives and negatives that go along with prolonging a person's life with medical technology.

Sticker

The sticker i picked says "LIVE IT UP". The reason I picked this sticker was because I think this is a good slogan and it was taking forever to find one so I just picked it. This slogan doesn't have a bunch of different meanings I don't think. This slogan means to live life to the fullest to me. I like this slogan because I feel it is important to live life to the fullest and to do everything you want to do. Living life to the fullest is important because if you do not, you may have a life with some regrets and nobody wants to have regrets. Another meaning this slogan has to me, is to just have fun in everything that you do. Make life the best it can be. Everyday, just LIVE IT UP!

Life

As of right now, my life is going pretty good I would say. This week has been really stressful for me though having three exams and a project due all in the same week. I have been doing pretty well in most of my classes which is good. It seems like I am always busy. School during the week then on the weekends I work. I haven’t been sick at all so far which I am thankful for. A lot of my friends and family have gotten sick and I have managed not to. I can’t wait until thanksgiving. I get to eat a bunch of delicious food and get a break from school. It’s going to be great. I am also excited for Christmas. Even a longer break from school and I enjoy spending time with my family. The new call of duty game just came out today so I am going to get that this weekend. I can’t play it this week because of all the school work I have to do. I got to see my girlfriend a lot last weekend which was nice. Hopefully I will get to see her this weekend too. I just can’t wait for this week to be over! I am so stressed about all of this school work and everything I just cannot wait until it is over.

Today I googled myself. I found my facebook page. I also found some newspaper articles of my football and basketball games from when I was in high school. There were also some results that had nothing to do with me. When I went to the images I found a picture of my sister but no pictures of me.

This video is making fun of the old movie Grease. I think it is funny because it is completely opposite of the song that they sang in Grease. They still have the same song they just changed the words of the song to make it funny.

What is research?

I had to look up information on animal experimentation for a research paper I was doing for my senior writing class. At first I went to wikipedia but our teacher said we couldn't use that so I went to a bunch of different sites and found a lot of information on animal experimentation. I ended up being against animal experimentation.

The most recent time was just the other day my friend and I were arguing about different sport topics and records. We went to websites like nfl.com wikipedia and other places to find the information we were arguing about. We found that I was right on one of them and he was right on the other.

The research I did for my school paper was something I had to do. It was on a topic I wasn't really interested in and I didn't really want to do it. The information I looked up when my friend and I were arguing was something I wanted to do. I think they are both research. I would say research is when you go to different sources like books, the internet, other people, to get information on a certain topic or topics that you are studying.

today in class

Today was an interesting day. We were talking about Clive Thompson's article. I was not really sure of what his view on machinima was or what his title of the article was meant to be. I thought it was funny how when we actually talked to him he said that he did not even name his title and that the editors are the ones who make the titles.

Things can be used in many different ways rather than their intended purpose. An example when I used a technology for something other than its intended purpose was with my playstation. For the most part, the playstation along with all video game systems were intended to play video games. Although I do use it to play video games, I also use it to play music and to watch movies. Another example of this is with my phone. The main purpose of a phone is to communicate with people. I mainly use my phone for this but I also use it in many other ways. For one, I use my phone to receive emails or to receive a facebook notification. I also use my phone to play music, get on the internet, or to play games when I am bored. Another example is with my car. In my car, the visor light is broke and it is constantly on because the part that broke off is the part that makes the light turn off when you close it. To fix this, I put a thumbtack in the top of my car so when i flip shut the visor, the button hits the thumbtack and the light turns off.

What is writing

The coolest thing I have made was a clock. This was in middle school in my woods class. I took this as an elective just for fun. I thought this was pretty cool because I am not the most creative person, but this was something I thought was pretty creative. It still works and I gave it to my dad and he liked it. The most interesting thing I have made was this scooper thing. My friend and I were really bored so we took a flashlight, a broom, and a dust pan and we duct taped them together to make it a cleaning thing she could use in the dark. I don't think she ever used it but it was pretty interesting.

I feel this is partially writing. For my clock, I designed it with pictures and designs that I liked and that represented me. Because of these designs and pictures, it is a form of writing because it expresses who I am in a visible aspect and not in words. The cleaning thing my friend and I made wasn't really writing in my mind. I don't think it communicated or did anything to express something that was intended. It had no meaning and no specific point that we were trying to be made.

I would define writing as anything that has an intended audience with an intended message that is trying to be showed. Writing can be verbal or non verbal.

reflection on paper

Writing this paper was a good experience for me. It made me open my eyes and to critically think about the ways the technology around me are affecting my life. It helped me focus on the significance experiences I have had with different forms of technologies and how those experiences affected my life as a whole. It was pretty tough writing this paper. Having one topic and going into so much detail and trying to remember all of the experiences with technology that I have had was hard.
I’m not sure if I did a good job with my introduction paragraph. My first intro paragraph was awful. Then I went back and revised it and tried to make it more catching and exciting. I tried to make it so the reader would want to keep on reading. I hope I was successful with that. Another part I struggled with was focusing. At first my paper did not have much focus. After revising it, I went back and pretty much started all over. The second time around I feel I did a much better job of focusing.
I hope to have gotten a good grade with this paper. I thought I did a good job going into detail with my experiences. I tried to go back and remember how I felt and to put it in my paper. I thought I did a good job reflecting on my experiences with technology and showing the significance it had with my life.

technology and gender

I have seen some experiences where relationship to technology was affected by gender. One of these experiences occurred when I was at my friend’s house. We were playing video games and my friend’s girl friends asked what we were doing. My friend told her how we were playing video games and everything. She laughed and started saying how all guys do is play video games. This made me think about that and how I feel just because of my gender I am associated with video games. Although I do play video games, it is certainly not all I do. I feel that often times someone may think just because you are a male, you automatically play video games. This is not always true. For one, I know some females that like to play video games. However, I have never had an experience where somebody associates females to video games. Also, the statement that all guys play video games and that’s all we do is untrue. I have some friends who do not play games at all and for the most part, video games are just something to keep people entertained.

i want to become a better writer

As of right now, I am not a very good writer. I feel that writing and being a good writer is an excellent skill to have. Not only for this class, but for other classes and real life situations. I feel that there are many things that help make up a good writer. Being able to express your ideas on paper is a big one. I feel that is one area where I struggle and want to become better in. I think I write best when writing about a topic I like and one that I am interested in. Another area in which I struggle is citations and using them. I understand the idea and the concept but I need to learn how to use them properly. I never have liked to write but maybe if I become a better writer I will enjoy it more. I think this class will help me become a better writer and I will also like writing more because of this class.

I use technology in my life everyday.

I use technology in my life every day. I watch tv everyday and that alone has an impact on my life. Television entertains me when I am bored. I also use my computer every day. Without it, I would not be able to do most of my homework. I also use it for communicating and socializing. Another form of technology is video games. When I am bored it is sometimes fun to play. Movies are another. I like to relax and be entertained.
I remember the first time my family bought a computer. I didn’t know how to do much because I was so young and had no experience with computers before that. I still tried to do stuff on it and play games. I was around video games when I was younger too. My cousin who I am really close to introduced me to video games. Whenever I went over to his house he would want to play a video game or show me some new music.
